Yes, you should descale your Cumulus steamer regularly to keep it performing at its best.
We recommend descaling every 15–20 full tanks of use.
When water turns into steam, small amounts of limescale and magnesium can build up inside the steamer. Over time, this coating can affect performance — descaling removes it.
You can use Steamery’s Descaler (available on our website) or white vinegar.
Below are instructions for both methods.
Descaling with Steamery Descaler
-
Disconnect the hose and water tank.
-
Pour 50 ml descaler and 100–200 ml boiling water into the water tank opening.
-
Gently tilt the steamer back and forth to mix. You’ll see brownish residue loosen.
-
Carefully pour the water out over a sink.
-
Repeat until no residue remains.
Descaling with White Vinegar
-
Unplug the steamer and remove the tank.
-
Mix 2 cl white vinegar with about 5 cl boiling water.
-
Pour the mixture into the water tank opening.
-
Gently tilt to distribute the liquid inside.
-
Let it sit for 5–6 minutes.
-
Empty the steamer over a sink.
-
Repeat if needed until the water runs clear.
